Day Five June 3 Monday

AN EARLY MORNING VISIT to ST MARYS

Gone but not forgotten.  St Mary's Abbey, formerly a great Benedictine establishment, now a ruined shell, thanks to Henry VIII (him again) and his disbanding of the monastic communities of England and Wales in the late 1530s. The bailiffs arrived at St Mary's in 1539, and swiftly stripped it of all its treasures. Five centuries on, the Abbey is little more than a husk open to the sky . Pieces of it live on repurposed throughout the town.

I like this better than the Minster. Oh, how the mighty have fallen....

This is a medieval Twister game. The original tiles are in the museum. Using your hands and feet you see how many words you can make.
